There is a newer update to this. More details…

Restricted opening – Drop-Ins

Although our studios and workshops will be open, we will have a limited number of spaces available and they must be booked in advance. You can do this on our courses page. Sessions will be released weekly, and we ask that you limit yourself to one session per week.

Session times will be 9.30am-12.30pm and 1-4pm, and you must allow yourself time within your session to clear up as we will be closed in between sessions to clean down work surfaces.

If you require physical support to work at Hive you can bring one friend or support worker with you by arrangement. Please contact us to arrange.

Courses

We are exploring and investing in new ways of delivering courses. This may include delivering courses in multiple locations, online courses, half and half courses (where studio time alternates week-by-week with online sessions) or live streamed courses. We are grateful to the Arts Council who have funded a full virtual classroom to support this.

Attendance will be limited, and it may be necessary to cancel or alter courses at short notice depending on current government guidance.

Membership

Membership is £15 for the year and runs from the date that you join, this helps to cover overhead costs at Hive. It also allows you access to Hive Drop-ins and 15% off course prices. Please see here for more details.

About your visit

Hand sanitiser will be provided in the porch above the signing in book. Please use this before entering the building and ensure that you regularly wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. Disposable gloves will also be provided.

Wearing a face covering is no longer a requirement at Hive, but please consider wearing one to help protect the more vulnerable.

We also ask that you maintain two metre distance from each other and Hive staff at all times.

The café area is currently closed, so please bring your own refreshments if you require them as there will be no access to drinks, boiler or microwave. Breaks must be taken outside.

The accessible toilet is available, and there is now a bolt on the door of the hand wash area to avoid bumping into people in this confined space. Please wipe down the toilet seat after use with the anti-bacterial wipes provided.

If you are using the pottery area, when you are finished please place any equipment used in the boxes provided, where they will be quarantined before being reused. If you need to use the pottery wheel, please let us know in advance. To limit physical contact, the weigh and pay tin is now in the pottery room and we ask that you do your own weighing and paying where possible (please ask if you need assistance).

We aim to minimise cash usage, so if you normally donate or pay for materials by cash, please consider donating online or using card instead, or if you cannot then please use the buckets provided.

Online workshops

We are holding a series of online workshops, some streaming live and some where tutors are available to answer any questions that you might have about projects that you are currently working on.

You can find our online workshops on our Facebook page – please like the page to get updates when we’re going live.
