Traditional joinery techniques (starts 05/12/20)

Woodwork Boxes

Start date:

5 December 2020

Start time:

This course moves on from our beginner’s course and explores traditional joinery techniques such as mortice and tenon joints.

Some prior experience is required.

You will work on an item to take away at the end of the course. All materials and equipment are provided.

On the course you will learn:

  • how to apply your woodwork skills to larger, more demanding projects
  • how to set out complex woodwork joints
  • how to saw with a high standard of accuracy
  • how to use chisels and planes to get precise results.

The studio is well equipped with materials, tools and equipment and you do not need to bring any with you. We do recommend bringing and using a small notebook to keep a record of your work and ideas. You are welcome to bring your own tools but you will not be able to keep them at Hive.

You will be expected to follow Health and Safety guidance whenever you use Hive’s Woodwork studio.

A short multimedia craft course where you will be helped to create ceramic beads or pendants along with customised braided, knotted or woven cords to display or wear them on.
