This course will show you how to keep your woodworking tools in top condition. You will learn modern and traditional methods of sharpening chisels and planes plus tips on how to set up and maintain them.

On this course you will learn:

  • how to regrind damaged chisels and plane irons
  • how to sharpen chisels and plane irons
  • the correct angles for sharpening
  • how to set up and adjust a plane
  • how to choose between different sharpening methods and technologies.

All equipment is provided. You are welcome to bring your own tools to work on during the course.

The studio is well equipped with materials, tools and equipment and you do not need to bring any with you. We do recommend bringing and using a small notebook to keep a record of your work and ideas. You are welcome to bring your own tools but you will not be able to keep them at Hive.

You will be expected to follow Health and Safety guidance whenever you use Hive’s Woodwork studio.

A short multimedia craft course where you will be helped to create ceramic beads or pendants along with customised braided, knotted or woven cords to display or wear them on.
