Screen printing is an exciting technique that is very popular, easy to produce and give great results. This printing course will give you the skills and knowledge needed to produce multiple screen prints. Over the duration of the screen-printing days you will become familiar with screen-printing techniques and will also be looking at other artists and producing your own original designs.
• You can produce work that will be in context with the work of artists, recognising the methods of cutting a stencil and printing.
• You don’t need to have any drawing skills to attend this workshop as I can provide you with templates.
• At the end of the sessions, you will have the skills to be able to produce screen-prints at home.
• For those who have some knowledge already – there will be an opportunity to experiment with mark making and producing more complex prints.
If you have one, can you bring a craft knife or scalpel. Bring an apron or wear an old shirt as the process gets a little messy. Bring with you an idea for a stencil, (I will also have templates you can use). Various source materials will be available, including the following books: Printmaking & Mixed Media – Elisha Dorit, Handmade Prints – Desmet & Anderson, Print Workshop – Christine Scmidt.
There will be a safety demonstration before we start the process. Please wear closed toe shoes (no sandals).
