On this creative course we will be looking at what makes an interesting or eye-catching design and how we can develop our own designs in clay.
We will make simple slab forms in clay which will be used for experimenting with a range of materials and found objects to create pattern and texture as well as exploring a variety of techniques and finally considering colour to help achieve our design.
This will be chance for you to be experimental and to try out different techniques in a relaxed informal class and you will end up with a range of beautiful textured designs.
Please bring a natural object with you for the first week like leaf, shell, flower (something that you have collected) and pencil and paper
Clay tools see below Home-made-clay-tools…you won’t need all of these but something to cut the clay with, board, cloth for rolling out on (old pillowcase or tea towel will do), rolling pin, paint brush to get you started
Clay or air-dry clay
Textured materials – anything you may have in the house like textured wallpaper, bubble wrap, textured fabric scraps, sandpaper, or able to keep like netting from onions etc. Paints such as water colour or acrylics/poster paint even old household paint
