1 February 2021
Following the broadcast of The Great Pottery Throwdown on Channel 4 on Sunday evenings we will be looking at some of the challenges given to the contestants and trying them out for ourselves. I will be in the studio at Hive demonstrating some of the techniques and guiding the students through the pitfalls. Where the wheel is involved we will look at alternative ways of building the forms.
This will give students an opportunity to play with techniques that they may wish to develop further when we have full access to the facilities at Hive. It will also give them a chance to laugh at me when I try and fail to complete some of the challenges within the time allowed! Good company, pottery chat and a chance to stretch their skills all in the comfort of their own homes!
These sessions will be every two weeks, giving students a chance to try the techniques in the intervening weeks.
