These full days will give you the chance to really immerse yourself in all things pottery!
This term we will be guiding you through a project adapted to suit the studio space at Bradford College. You will be guided through a range of hand-building techniques such as slab work, coiling, sculpting, how to pull handles and fit lids. You will be able to move your skills forward by exploring different surface patterns and textures. You will be shown how to use slips and glazes to create different decorative effects on your pots. For those keen to gain a more comprehensive understanding there will be chance to mix glazes too.
You may want to take advantage of the amazing ceramics studio at Bradford and have a go on the pottery wheel.
For the more experienced potter who wishes to follow their own project you will be guided and supported to do so, with a focus on building on your existing skills, especially with two tutors on hand!
No experience necessary, this course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with more experience.
The studio is well equipped with materials, tools and equipment and you do not need to bring any with you. We do recommend bringing and using a small notebook to keep a record of your work and ideas. You are welcome to bring your own tools but you will not be able to keep them at Bradford college.
You will be expected to follow Health and Safety guidance and our code of conduct whenever you use Bradford college’s ceramics studio.
