Beads and Braids – New Dates (01/11/21)

Start date:

1 November 2021

Start time:

Ceramic jewellery is a growing area of the ceramic world. Ceramic beads have been around as long as pots (and possibly longer) and ceramic jewellery is making a comeback.
On this short course you will be supported to create ceramic beads and pendants using clay forming techniques such as rolling, hand building, and texturing. You will be able to add decoration and interest to your beads using coloured slips and glazes.
You will also be shown how to make textile cords to hang or display your work. You will be helped to make your own cords experimenting with a variety of different threads & textiles. You will be able to learn new skills as you make your cords and braids; you will be able to explore weaving, knotting, braiding and other techniques such as macramé and kumihimo. At the end of the course your beads will be combined with your cords to create stunning and unique pieces of jewellery.

There will be a one-week break in the course while your Ceramic Beads are fired in the kiln.
