Creative Hand Loom Weaving at Intermediate Level

This course is  intermediate level and therefore ideal for those who have completed our beginners course or those who have some experience of weaving on a weaving frame. *No requirement for previous design, skills just a love for learning new creative skills *

The emphasis is on creative fun working from a tutor lead brief with a strong emphasis on step by step design development from design inspiration (ideas) to sketchbook work, through to warp design and completion of woven samples.

You will be encouraged to experiment with traditional and non-traditional materials that you purchase yourself. More information and guidance will be given at the start of the course.

To encourage compilation of notes of both learned and developed weaving techniques and the design process.

To encourage experimentation with various types of yarn and other materials raising awareness of performance and creative qualities of materials used.

Essential Equipment:

Small pair of sharp scissors (yarn cutting)

Notebook pencil

A4 Sketchbook

Weaving frame will be supplied for you to use, a small selection of materials will be available for first session, however if you have any wool/yarns please bring them along. You will be required to purchase your own warp and weft yarns for your final pieces of work in week 3/4
