Banglemaking (Silversmithing)

Making a simple, soldered bangle is quite similar to making a band ring and in some ways it can be an easier process.

Two forms of bangle will be covered: - open (no soldering) and - soldered (a continuous band).

Learners may select from a range of sterling silver strips and if desired, may make up to 3 bangles, time and materials availability allowing!
N.B. If you would prefer to work in copper, please let us know at least 3 weeks before start of class. Also, we will not be making wide cuff bangles, thanks.

You will learn how to:
Correctly size, prepare and form the metal strip
Identify and use a selection of silversmithing tools
How metal is work hardened, annealed and “pickled” (cleaned!)
Set up and solder your bangle(s)
Achieve a selection of surface effects and final finishes
Comply with all health and safety procedures throughout

Please wear older clothes and stout footwear.

Material Fees are in addition to the course fee for this course
